Dottie Peoples to Be Honored At the 2018 Essence Festival
This year’s Essence Festival celebrates the 10th anniversary of its All-Star Gospel Tribute. The 2018 3-day event will close out with a tribute to Gospel music luminary Dottie Peoples. Hosted by Cheryl Wills, the tribute concert will celebrate Dottie’s 30-year career in music. Having her start in music in church at the age of 8, Dottie began her professional music career after high school singing with acclaimed singer Dorothy Norwood. That experience led Dottie to tour with Norwood which included Norwood’s tour with The Rolling Stones.
Also known as a Jazz vocalist and a business woman with her own music label, DP MUZIK Group based in Atlanta Georgia, Dottie went back to her roots in Gospel music and the rest is Gospel history. She released her first album Surely God Is Able and went on to win multiple industry awards. The tribute to Peoples will include music and performances from Tasha Cobbs-Leaonard, Marvin Sapp, Smokie Norful, Regina Belle, Geaorge Potts Young & the Church Friends Band, Johny Gil, Lexi, Turonne G. Foster, the Arc Singers and more.
The All-Star Gospel Tribute will hosted by Cheryl Wills and will be held on Sunday July 8th in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
